Squash at the Dean

In June 2017 the committee announced the appointment of our new squash coach Lisa McKenna. To contact her phone 0791 287 7042 or email her at or head over to her webpage at

Dean have 2 LED lit, heated squash courts. Court 1 has a viewing gallery. The courts are often refurbished annually or as necessary.

There are two men’s teams which play in the ESSA leagues, where results and current standings can be found. If you’re interested in playing for one of the men’s squash teams contact the captains Tom Costelloe or James Birkhead.

After competing successfully for many years in the ESSA leagues, the ladies team are currently awaiting some keen new players before they enter another team!

Annual Tournament

Every year in January – March Dean holds an annual squash tournament. This year the finals day is on 30th March 2019.

Squash leagues

Many of the squash playing members regularly play in the Club’s mini-leagues. There are up to 13 divisions of five or six players giving an opportunity to play a game approximately weekly against an opponent of a similar standard. The leagues operate throughout the year and are organised in 5 or 6 week blocks. The leagues are suitable for all standards from complete beginner to team player. The leagues are a very good way for members to meet other players. Matches are played best of 5 games. Play a minimum of 3 games to avoid being dropped! Most players are adopting the point-a-rally system to 15 but feel free! Our courts are not overheated making the use of the single yellow a popular choice. If you are interested in joining the leagues, contact the league organiser: Ron Todd.

Footwear Notice

To prevent marking the floors or bringing in dirt please use non-marking, indoor-use shoes only.

NB: The club house and squash courts are cleaned on Monday’s and Friday’s.

A number of squash players also play racketball occasionally. In previous years Dean has entered a team into the East of Scotland racketball league which operates over the summer months. If you would like to play for the team or try this fun game out contact Michael Clarkson.
