The fall of leaves in September, October & November onto the tennis courts presents a considerable problem. If the leaves are not regularly cleared off the courts they can make the surface slippery, restrict drainage and promote moss growth. The tennis courts & grounds are regularly maintained by Spruce Garden Services but they can’t be there every week. In the past, Jerry Williams & Duncan Robertson have done the bulk of the leaf clearing on the days when Spruce aren’t there.
So, the club is looking for volunteers to take a turn to clear the leaves off the courts. The task is detailed in this document by Jerry Williams. As an alternative to the barrow, leaves can be placed in one of the two bags which have now been placed behind the two “Cleansweep” drag nets hanging up on the wall, adjacent to court 1.
NB: The gardiners’ current 2024 schedule is every second Tuesday afternoon commencing 3 September and ending 29 October. Winter schedule to be advised.
